Apollo was the most beautiful of the Greek gods. And it is certainly because of it's presence the Great Dane got it's status as the "Apollo" of dogs.

Interested in acquiring a Great Dane? Wonderful! But, buying a Great Dane is not a decision to be taken lightly. A Great Dane is one of the giant breeds, and that cute little puppy is going to grow and grow and grow.
Before you buy a Great Dane, take time to be sure it is the right addition to your home and your family. The Great Dane is not the dog for everyone. However, given the right owner, the Great Dane is the most rewarding of companions.
What is the temperament of the Great Dane?
Great Danes are people oriented, wanting to please and be with their families. They aren’t such great Guard Dogs, however their shear size does intimidate most strangers. They are really well natured and have good relationships with children.
What Size do they get?

As you can see the Great Dane does grow to be much larger than other “Big” dogs. You can see how big it is here compared to a Rotweiller and a Dobberman Pincher. The average male is about 885 mm or 35 Inches to it’s shoulders.
And can weigh an average of 70 Kg’s or up to 100 Kg’s. This is more than some of you weigh…. However, the weight and size will all be depended on the breed History. It’s therefore always good to ask how big the Male and Female of the litter is.
